AQUACULTURE PROBIOTIC AND POLLUTANT REMOVING FORMULA

DESCRIPTION:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLOŽ 1005 is a dry, synergistic blend of bacteria combining the sludge and water cleaning capabilities of ALKEN CLEAR-FLOŽ 1000 with the probiotic protection, cold-weather activity and ability to degrade nominal levels of pesticides and synthetic organic contaminants from ALKEN CLEAR-FLOŽ 1001. This blend has been particularly popular in aquaculture applications, where high density leads to stress and high nutrient levels and murky waters. ALKEN CLEAR-FLOŽ 1005 is applicable in a wider temperature range than either of its components, used alone.

If ammonia nitrogen is also high, ALKEN CLEAR-FLOŽ 1100 should be used in conjunction with ALKEN CLEAR-FLOŽ 1005. This formula contains a total of 7 spore-forming Bacillus strains and 3 gram-negative strains.

CHARACTERISTICS:

 Bacterial count:  3.5 billion CFU/gram
 Appearance:  Free flowing, brown powder
 Odor:  Yeast-like
 pH:  Neutral

FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

  •  Probiotic protection of aquatic inhabitants.
  • Not harmful to fish, wildlife, farm animals, or humans when used as directed.
  • Reduces turbidity, sludge buildup, and the potential for anaerobic conditions and foul odors.
  • Effective over a wide temperature range (40 deg.F to 125 deg.F) or (4.4 deg C to 51 deg C) and pH range (5.9 to 9.0).

APPLICATION DIRECTIONS:

See

 Aquaculture/Lake/Pond dosage charts
for general application rates (use chart for CF 1000, 1005 & 1007) Your Alken-Murray service representative will prescribe both the initial application and the weekly maintenance doses taking into consideration such factors as the size of the particular waterbody, total weekly inflow and outflow, amount of shade vs. sun, fish and fowl loadings, and levels of pesticides or other contaminants. Be aware that a heavy rainfall may bring significant contamination with its runoff, and a one-time dosage equal to the initial application may be needed to restore control. Mechanical aeration may be needed where natural aeration is deficient. For optimum bacterial performance, hydrate ALKEN CLEAR-FLOŽ 1005 before application in the evening. Thoroughly mix each pound of dry product with two gallons of warm (approx.70 deg.F) water from the waterbody to be treated. Allow the mixture to hydrate for two hours, stirring vigorously every ˝ hour. After final settling, carefully pour off the top liquid layer for use, squeeze all liquid from the bran that has settled into the liquid and dispose of the remaining bran. Avoid use of algaecides, herbicides, and antibiotics when using ALKEN CLEAR-FLOŽ.

To seed small grow-out tanks or large aquariums, apply 18 to 20 grams per 1000 gallons (3785 L) of water the first week. Apply 9 to 10 grams weekly for the balance of one month. If you are treating an aquaculture tank, then continue with this product at 4 to 5 grams a week. If you are treating a glass sided aquarium, you should then switch to Alken Clear-Flo 1002 for maintainence, since long term application of this product may produce a healthy, but unattractive slime on the glass walls of an aquarium.

PACKAGING AND HANDLING:

ALKEN CLEAR-FLOŽ 1005 is packaged in 25 and 50 pound containers. Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, or open wounds and wash hands with warm, soapy water after handling.
